Deniz didn’t know what to expect when she joined the Amacus Health and Wellbeing programme and was lacking in confidence for various reasons.
She met with Emma, Step Forward Tees Valley Navigator, and it became clear Deniz had hidden qualities and an underlying desire to become successful. During this meeting Emma helped Deniz overcome her initial fears and misconceptions.
Upon induction to the programme, she admitted that all intimidation was wiped away within moments of entering the room. The friendliness of staff, especially Amacus trainer Julie Robinson, helped her settle in straight away.
The Health and Wellbeing programme enables individuals to build their confidence, find new skills and ensure that they look forward with a positive attitude. The sessions use group activities, one to one support and various scenarios, to help develop confidence. Deniz said: ‘
Having completed the Health and Wellbeing programme, she then moved onto the Employability programme, to further develop skills and confidence. Deniz passed both courses with flying colours and now plans to start looking for work. She said:
