Workplace Health companies participating in Speed networking event

Companies in Sunderland took part in a ‘speed networking’ session yesterday to increase their knowledge of workplace health and wellbeing.

The event, organised by Amacus, took place at Gateshead College’s Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation, and involved companies such as EDF Energy, HMRC Sunderland Contact Centre and Sainsburys.

Company representatives spoke to each other for 10 minutes each before moving on to the next person, ensuring they we able to speak to everyone.

Lyndsay Doyle from EDF Energy, based at Doxford Park said: “It was a really great session and a brilliant way to share ideas”.

Janet Cummings, Workplace Health Coordinator at Amacus said; “We find this style of event works much better than traditional networking, as participants have dedicated time to speak to each other ensuring they get the most from attending the session”.

Amacus are contracted by Sunderland City Council to deliver a Workplace Health and Wellbeing Service to businesses in the city. They facilitate the Sunderland Workplace Health Alliance which meets quarterly, sharing Workplace health and wellbeing best practice. In addition companies are supported to participate in the North East Better Health at Work Award, a structured programme focused on encouraging employees to make healthier lifestyle choices.
