With headquarters in Sunderland, Vantec is a third party logistics, warehousing and freight forwarding business, operating across the UK and managing operations for some of the North East’s largest manufacturers and blue chip companies.  

Vantec had introduced a new performance appraisal system, and identified the need to provide development in core management competencies such as Communication; Assertiveness; Team Working; Performance Management; Coaching; and Problem Solving Skills.

Vantec approached Amacus in mid-2011 to propose a development solution for their three levels of management – Supervisor, Trainee Manager and Manager.

We subsequently designed and delivered a programme for each of these levels aligned specifically to Vantec’s core competencies. Each of these programmes offering relevant Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) accreditation to provide standardisation and consistency throughout. These programmes entitled:

  • ILM Level 3 Certified Supervisor Development Programme
  • ILM Level 4 Certified Trainee Manager Development Programme
  • ILM Level 5 Certified Manager Development Programme 

Each programme consisting of a series of practical workshops held at monthly intervals to encourage workplace application and timely completion of assessments.

With their headquarters located nearby, Vantec took up the option to host all of this development from Amacus’ first-class facilities at the Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing & Innovation (SASMI) in Sunderland.  

These programmes started in November 2011 with 74 individuals enrolled. Training is progressing very well with the business realising the benefits of their investment. With this development scheduled to run until late 2012, we look forward to providing you with an update as these programmes come to an end.
